Jennifer Garner acted her heart out in her latest movie so hard that she popped a blood vessel during filming
Jennifer Garner’s latest film, The Tribes of Palos Verdes, may hit close to home, but she’s not letting that phase her. In a recent interview with ET, Garner shared that she shakes off her emotional role once she leaves set in order to be fully present for her kids. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t giving it her all.
In The Tribes of Palos Verdes, Garner plays a woman who divorces her husband after discovering his affair. You might think the brand new Instagrammer channeled her feelings from her recent divorce from Ben Affleck for the role. But she approached it just like she does any other — and with maybe a little bit more physical harm than usual.
"Anytime that you're playing someone who is going through something, you have to just figure it out, and you actually — believe it or not — don't use your own life as much as you might think," Garner told ET.
Regardless of her inspiration for her character, it’s clear that Garner gave it everything she has.
Her role in The Tribes of Palos Verdes definitely impacted her physically. The film’s director, Emmett Malloy, revealed that Garner really went for it, especially during the scene in which her character discovers her husband’s affair.
"That scene in particular, I know that Jennifer said that she popped a blood vessel. So that kind of sums it up," Malloy told ET.
That sounds intense! But just as Garner didn’tdraw on her own experience to play the single mother in the film, she also didn’t let the emotional role influence her home life with her three kids.
"You just get into that place. That's your job, and then you shake it off, because you have to go home and raise your kids," she told ET. "It's just like any other time I do a scene with an emotional place."
Garner did more than just act her heart out for this film. She also served as an executive producer.
"It was just really exciting getting to be a part of getting this movie made," she continued. "It's one of those tiny little movies that's an engine that could."
It sounds like Garner really was championing this film in every way possible. “She just joined the crew and was really with it, and didn’t have a trailer and just sat there every day in that house and did scene after scene,” Malloy told ET.
Knowing Garner, a.k.a a real-live Super Woman, it’s not a huge surprise that she worked so hard on The Tribes of Palos Verdes. Just a glimpse at her Instagram is enough proof that anyone should need to believe she has incredible strength and determination.
It seems the more we learn about Jennifer Garner, the more reasons we have to love her. She’s an inspiration in every way possible.
