Jennifer Garner is actually super embarrassed about her Oscar meme, and oh no, this is now awkward for everyone

In a devastating turn of events, Jennifer Garner is absolutely mortified about becoming a meme during the 90th Academy Awards earlier this month.

During the awards ceremony telecast, Garner had one of the most talked about moments — from the audience, no less. The Love, Simon actress was applauding alongside seat neighbor Chris Messina when she appeared to have a sudden realization. And the whole thing was caught on camera for the world to see.

Jezebel writer Bobby Finger quickly took to Twitter to ask, “What realization did Jennifer Garner just come to?” From there, Garner’s realization quickly went viral. In the immediate aftermath, the actress played it off cool, poking fun at herself on her Instagram story, offering three possible realizations she may have come to.

But in a new interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Garner revealed that not only does she have zero idea what realization she came to during the ceremony, she’s embarrassed by the whole thing.

“I can’t even look at it, I can’t. It’s too embarrassing,” the actress said, as a video of the Oscars moment appeared on-screen behind her. She revealed that she immediately started getting texts from people asking what she was thinking in that moment, adding that while she generally avoids any media coverage of herself, her Oscars realization was unavoidable.

"What is happening? I have no control over this," Garner said, pointing to her face. "What am I doing? I mean I started getting texts, as you can imagine, people saying, 'What were you thinking? What's happening?' And I try really hard not to see myself online but she was a little unavoidable."

But not only does Garner not know what realization she game to, she also doesn’t even remember the moment happening at all.

Not even at all. We’re standing, there’s Chris Messina…I don’t know. I — what is wrong with me?” Garner said, trying to recall the moment where it happened. But feeling major “regret” times three, the actress has a very harsh take on Oscars realization Jennifer. “I just want to punch her in the face.”

No! We hope Garner isn’t too embarrassed because her realization was definitely one of the most charming moments of the Oscars.

Here’s Garner recounting her embarrassment to DeGeneres:

In an Jezebel article, Finger wrote that he feels bad that Garner’s embarrassed about the meme he created, adding himself to the list of “unforgivable” men who’ve made Jennifer Garner sad. He wrote, “Have you ever made Jennifer Garner sad? I mean, like, have you ever done something that had a direct—we’re talking causal—relationship to Jennifer Garner becoming sad? Ben Affleck certainly has. As has Scott Foley. Maybe even Bradley Cooper and/or Victor Garber! (Though who’s to say for certain.) The point is that, ugh, I must now add myself to that list of unforgivable men. And lemme tell you, this sucks. Jennifer Garner does not deserve to be sad!

Hopefully Garner soon realizes that her Oscars meme is one of the best things to grace the internet in recent months, alongside her joining Instagram, of course.
