Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are separating, because love is still dead in 2018
We’re barely even a month and a half into this new year and already we have our first major Hollywood breakup — and this one really, really hurts. Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have just announced that they are separating, and this is sad because it’s always upsetting when a marriage ends. It’s especially sad for us right now, because my god, does no one else just want Jen Aniston to be happy and thriving when it comes to her love life?
Obviously, having a significant other is not the most important thing in life, but deep down inside you just want Aniston to find her happily ever after, right? RIGHT? Like the very public and messy breakup with Brad Pitt wasn’t enough? Now Justin Theroux? Can nothing gold ever stay?
According to the Associated Press, who first reported the split, the two actually parted ways at the end of last year and have kept it hush-hush for the time being. Or, to quote the source directly, the AP writes that the couple’s decision was “mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year.”
Aniston’s publicist, Stephen Huvane, also released a short and succinct statement, from the couple: “Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly. Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else’s fictional narrative. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another.”
As People reports, Aniston’s birthday was just this last weekend, and she spent it apart from Theroux — instead, she celebrated with longtime friend Courteney Cox. (We’d probably do the same…?)
The couple began dating in 2011, married in 2015, and have now split in 2018. We’re wishing them all the best right now, and Jen, if you need us, we’ll be right here for you.
