Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux probably got married and we’re psyched. . .
. . .And not because Jennifer Aniston probably got married, something tabloids have been urging her to do for about a decade, but because love. Aniston, who has gracefully navigated an incomprehensible amount of pressure from the media to marry, has always done exactly what’s felt right to her, shirking off conventional rules about what a woman in her 40s is “supposed” to do, and instead, living life the way she pleases—aka awesomely.
“There’s no desperation,” Aniston told Elle of marriage and motherhood. “If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. I’m at peace with whatever the plan is.”
So if she did get married, as every major news outlet is currently reporting (though the couple hasn’t released an official statement), then that probably means it was exactly what felt right in her relationship, and not because of some outside pressure women—and men—are unfortunately too familiar with. So yay for Jen and Justin!
For a quick refresher: Jennifer and Justin started hanging out on the set of the David Wain-directed (that’s Wet Hot American Summer David Wain) movie Wanderlust andthey were HILARIOUS together. 18 months later, they were engaged.
The couple decided not to rush into wedding planning until the time was perfectly right. “We just want to do it when it’s perfect, and we’re not rushed, and no one is rushing from a job or rushing to a job,” Aniston told the Associated Press. She added, “And, you know, we already feel married,” which is so sweet and perfect, amirite?
So let’s toast to the maybe bride and groom, because they probably got married on a Wednesday night in a low-key shindig, and did things their way, on their timeline, and of course, because love.
