We really did not expect Jennifer Aniston to say this about her famous hair

Ask any hairstylist which celebrity tresses their clients are most eager to copy and Jennifer Aniston will be near the top of that list. She inspired millions of women to get big, feathered layers (AKA “The Rachel”) during the early years of Friends and has spurred the same levels of obsession with  pretty much all of her hairstyles since, from gorgeous formal updos to sleek straight locks to casual waves.

Basically, Jennifer Aniston’s hair has a lot of fans. But there’s one notable holdout: Jennifer herself.

In a recent interview, she admitted that her hair is definitely not as perfect as it seems, and in fact, most of the time it’s straight-up annoying:

That’s right. People‘s Most Beautiful Woman of 2016 has the same hair woes as the rest of us. The big difference? She has a crew of professional stylists on call to create the illusion of perfection. “The team and hairstylists,” she said, “I owe it all to them. I can’t take credit.”

Between glam squads and Instagram filters, it’s easy for celebrities to maintain the illusion of effortless perfection these days, so props to Jen for being real about this.

As Jen explained, “Beauty has changed for me over the years: It’s really learning to love every single thing about yourself.”

And how does she define beauty? “Inner confidence. Peace. Kindness. Honesty. A life well-lived.”

Keep this in mind next time you’re having a bad hair day and wishing you had Jennifer Aniston’s preternaturally perfect locks. There’s no such thing as perfection, so work with what you’ve got and show yourself some love!
