“The Office’s” Jenna Fischer said she felt like her heart would “burst” the first time she kissed John Krasinski

They’re one of our favorite TV couples ever, so we’re naturally here for any and all BTS details about Jim and Pam’s onscreen romance from NBC’s The Office. Jenna Fischer (aka Pam Beesly) wrote a book called The Actor’s Life: A Survival Guide, in which Fischer dishes on her first kiss with John Krasinski (aka Jim Halpert). It also happened to be her first time kissing on camera, so it was a PRETTY BIG DEAL.
For most of us non-actors, it’s hard to imagine kissing another person while standing in front of an entire TV crew and bright lights, while pretending to be somebody else, and making it all look authentic. But her recollection of how the kiss went down is utterly adorable.
"... everyone on the show wanted to get it just right," Fischer explains in the book. "When [director Ken Kwapis] walked away, I felt completely transported into a new reality. I was Pam, I was talking with my mother, and my heart was breaking."
Let’s just take a moment to remember these two lovebirds.
Okay, on with the story!
"I spoke into the phone, telling her I was in love with Jim, but I couldn’t confess my feelings to him. Suddenly, Jim walked in the door. I turned and saw him and my heart felt like it might burst out of my chest. I wanted so much to tell him how I felt, but before I could, he kissed me. It was perfect."
Fischer also delved into what the casting process was like, and how she and Krasinski had an instant connection.
"John and I were walking out of an audition scene, and he suddenly turned to me and whispered, ‘You’re my favorite Pam. I hope you get this job," she wrote. "It was exactly as sweet and cute and supportive as anything Jim would say to Pam. I smiled really big and said, ‘I’m so glad you said that because you’re my favorite Jim and I don’t think anyone could do it except for you.'"
And, well, the rest is history.
Not gonna lie, we miss you guys. And we can’t wait to read Fischer’s book, which is currently available on Amazon.
