‘Jeepers Creepers 3’ is so happening, and it already sounds scary good

You know that thing when you’re watching a scary movie, and you aren’t even really scared because you’re too angry? Because the characters are obviously in grave danger but they’re just making ALL the worst decisions? That’s how Jeepers Creepers makes me feel, and I loved it. Why would you voluntarily go back to a place where you saw bloody bodies being dropped in a hole? Why do you ignore phone calls telling you that you’re in terrible danger? Have you never seen a horror movie before?! (Carry on.)

Anyway. All of that is to say, Myriad Pictures just made our dreams come true and announced that they’re making Jeepers Creepers 3! We’re so stoked—and a little spooked—for the story to continue. Last we left things, we were a few days out from the Creeper’s killing-spree-every-23-years-for-23-days revival. If you think about it, the Creeper is basically the Dementor equivalent of the horror movie world: He feasts on fearful people to regain strength, and is weirdly picky about his victims.

What’s more is the Jeepers Creepers dream team is back for movie #3: Victor Salva will direct, and Francis Ford Coppola will produce. It’s been a while since Coppola stepped into the producer role—his last time around was in 2013 for Bling Ring.

Plus, Brandon Smith will be back as Sergeant Davis Tubbs, and Jonathan Breck will be back as the one and only Creeper.

“Writing and directing a new Jeepers film, the first in over a decade, is incredibly exciting,” said Salva in a statement. “For me and I believe for Jeepers fans all over the world that have been asking for more.”

Ask and you shall receive. The first two films revealed bits and pieces of the Creeper’s creepy ways—so far, we know it hunts every 23rd spring for 23 days, and that anything it eats becomes part of its body. (Shudder.) Jeepers fans still have major questions, and it sounds like the third installment will provide some answers.

“What will go before cameras as Jeepers Creepers 3 is a new and terrifying chapter from the Jeepers universe,” Salva continued. “We are bringing back the Creeper’s truck, and will be addressing the big questions about the Creeper: what it is, where it came from and why it does what it does.”

The movie should start production early next year. Until then, a re-watch of the first two is in order. Do it just for 2001-era Justin Long.
