Vanderpump Rules’ Jax and Brittany are engaged, and fans have very mixed feelings about this
Guys, it happened. Vanderpump Rules stars Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are engaged! Quick primer for people who don’t know the show: Vanderpump Rules is a reality show on Bravo (hi, Andy Cohen) that follows the dramatic lives of the employees at Lisa Vanderpump’s West Hollywood restaurant, SUR. Taylor was a bartender there and Cartwright continues to work at SUR as a server, and the show’s most recent season documented their very public cheating scandal (Jax slept with former SUR employee Faith Stowers), and their ensuing breakups, makeups, and — apparently — engagements.
"Omg omg!!!!!!!! We are ENGAGED!" Cartwright shared in an Instagram post of her ring. "What a way to start our summer and season 7!! I am so happy, so in love, and so beyond excited for this next chapter of our lives! I can’t wait for all of you to see how he proposed! I am the happiest girl ever right now."
“She said yes!!! I can’t wait for y’all to see how this happened next season!!!” Taylor captioned his photo of the engagement ring. “I am marrying the woman of my dreams and I could not be happier!! Make sure y’all tune in season 7 to see how this unfolded.”
After Jax popped the question, the rest of the show’s cast members — who all appear to be genuine friends in real life — surprised the happy couple at their apartment where the reality show cameras were rolling.
Everyone at the party seems ecstatic for the couple, but if you watched Season 6, you know that Cartwright’s friends were practically begging her to dump him because Jax has cheated on every girlfriend he’s had since the first season of the show. He’s been portrayed as a perpetual liar, womanizer, and narcissist, so we can’t really blame Brittany’s friends (and viewers) for trying to steer her in a different direction.
When it comes to their engagement news, fans are truly a mixed bag. Many not super happy, because of Jax’s alleged cheating.
