Positively owning the red carpet at the Critics’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles last night, the Moonlight actress — who has always been a fan of the black-and-white aesthetic — wore a custom checkerboard gown by up-and-coming designer Nicci Hou. As Janelle wrote on Instagram, “I saved this dress for months. I am so happy to support another young woman of color and her art. Thank you Nicci.”
