We may soon learn the identity of the “Jane the Virgin” narrator
If you’ve been following along with the Villanueva family’s story, chances are you’ve wondered just who is behind the narrator’s voice in Jane the Virgin a time or two. Many fans are suspecting that the secret identity belongs to that of Jane’s baby boy Mateo as an adult. While others guess that the narrator could be the deceased grandfather of Jane — Jane’s son’s namesake Mateo.
While the fan theories keep circling, one thing’s for sure. We’ll be finding out just who’s voicing the anonymous character sooner than later. According to the show’s executive producer Jennie Urman, and via TV Line, there have definitely been “hints throughout” of just who this mysterious man is. And looking back at last week’s season three finale, we may be closer to breaking this code sooner than you think.
In the midst of Xiomara and Rogelio’s wedding, the narrator dropped a major hint as to who he could be, saying: “And Xiomara? Well, she looked perfect. At least to the people who loved her most — which includes me.” So, obviously we’re expecting this special someone to have been significantly close to Jane’s mother once upon a time.
Could the original fan theory of the narrator being the original Mateo hold true?
We all know just how close she was to her father, the older Mateo. So, this theory could totally be true! Is the older Mateo the Villanueva women’s guardian angel? Or, could he totally be alive after all, and just lurking in the shadows? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Urman, however, is keeping her lips tight to whether or not we’re onto to something. But, she does reassure us that the secret will definitely come out.
“That’ll make sense eventually,” she said. Later adding that it’ll all come together “at the end of the series.” And the big reveal will be “part of the last two scenes.”
Season four can’t get here fast enough.
