Jane Fonda drops serious wisdom about female friendship and sticking together
In 1980, three women turned the tables on their sexist boss in a little movie called 9 to 5. (Maybe you’ve heard of it?) Co-stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin became comedic heroes for working women and besties, and today they’re still championing for us ladies in a major way.
On Monday during Sundance Film Festival, Fonda and Tomlin spoke to a sold-out crowd about women in film. It’s no secret that women are finally starting to get the creative recognition that they deserve, and female protagonists are becoming a standard (hooray!). But, according to Fonda, we’ve still got work to do. And it’s all about solidarity.
But the discussion wasn’t totally focused on the movie industry, and Fonda had a couple of things to say about why women tend to live longer than men.
We love you, Jane! So the next time you’re having coffee with your best lady friends, remember these wise words, and celebrate the fact that we’re going to be here for a long, long time. Maybe even longer if we pair it with Fonda’s workout routines!
