Jamiroquai just released their first single in almost a decade, and it’s space-age glory

British funk and jazz band Jamiroquai just announced the release of their new LP, after almost a decade on hiatus. The “Virtual Insanity” singers turned up the heat with their premiere single “Automaton,” and it’s everything we could’ve dreamed! Complete with the coolest space visuals, the five-minute video takes you to one heck of a ride to the “unknown.”

Furthermore, the track itself stays true to Jamiroquai’s original funk and acid jazz sound. “Automaton” is timeless, and couldn’t have come at a better time.

Dear Jamiroquai — where, oh where can we get those awesome space hats from?

It’s been seven years since the band’s 2010 futuristic LP Rock Dust Light Star, and we’re so happy to have them back. Needless to say, we’re totally into the whole space vibe. It’s obviously right up Jamiroquai’s alley. They’ve perfected it over the years, for sure.

The band’s Automaton LP will hit the shelves on March 31st, and it is now available for preorder. Frontman Jay Kay told Rolling Stone:

"The inspiration for Automaton is in recognition of the rise of artificial intelligence and technology in our world today and how we as humans are beginning to forget the more pleasant, simple and eloquent things in life and in our environment including our relationship with one another as human beings."

The track list shows that song titles include “Cloud 9,” “Superfresh,” and “Dr Buzz.”

We can tell it’s going to be a hit!
