Jamie Dornan had the best response to people criticizing the quality of “Fifty Shades”

It’s become one of the most divisive franchises in movie history, and now Jamie Dornan has weighed in on the criticizm surrounding the Fifty Shades franchise.

While there are many reasons why people might criticize Fifty Shades, the trailer for the second film in the series, Fifty Shades Darker, beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens when it became the most watched trailer in less than 24 hours (although it was then beaten by Beauty and the Beast). What’s more, the books, while not well received critically, have broken sales records, too, and there’s even news that a new book in series is set for release this year.

Now Jamie Dornan wants critics to know exactly how he feels about the franchise’s detractors.

Speaking to GQ Australia ahead of the film’s release next month, Dornan said that while he has no problem with people criticizing the films, he doesn’t respect their opinions.

"As much as it has 100 million fans, there's a lot of people who aren't into it and are very vocal about that," he said. "I don't blame people. I've got plenty of opinions about things I don't know a lot about, or that I don't give a chance — it's just the nature of the beast. "I'm not going to lose any sleep over it."

Oooh burn.

Despite the not listening to critics, however, Jamie Dornan did say that his character of Christian Grey wasn’t someone that he’d be hanging out with anytime soon.

"He's not the sort of bloke I'd get along with," he said. "All my mates are easy-going and quick to laugh - I wouldn't imagine myself sat in a pub with him. I don't think he would be my type, when it comes to choosing mates."

Luckily, Dornan doesn’t have to hang out with Christian Grey he just has to pretend to be him in a movie. In fact, we’re not sure that we’d want to get a drink with Christian Grey either, tbqh.

Fifty Shades Darker is released on February 10th.
