James Hetfield’s 16-year-old daughter is just the coolest
If you’re into Metallica, you probably already know of James Hetfield and his iconic head-banging jams. But did you know his eldest daughter, Cali, can create some killer music of her own?
The two proved just that when they covered Adele’s “Crazy For You” at the second annual “Acoustic-4-A-Cure” benefit concert a few days ago. The concert, founded by Hetfield and Sammy Hagar, raises funds for the Pediatric Cancer Program at a children’s hospital through, as you’d probably guess, acoustic covers and melodies.
After Hetfield announced that his 16-year-old daughter would be helping him (which we totally get; after all, it IS Adele, and you need all the help you can get to cover one of her badass songs), Cali walked out onto the stage took the mic, and wowed the crowd with her vocals as Hetfield played the background instrumentals on acoustic guitar.
Cali, who is clearly super-close with her dad—as evidenced by his birthday homages to her on Instagram and YouTube—already has her own Facebook fan page. And now we know she’s inherited some serious vocal chops. Girl is poised to take on the music industry.
Seriously, after seeing their amazing performance, we would be totally down for Hetfield and Cali to form a two-part band on their own. Cali’s voice is absolutely gorgeous and soulful—almost hypnotic, really.
We’re all for some dad-daughter singing, especially when our girl Adele is involved. Remember that face, because somehow, we have a feeling this won’t be the last we’re seeing of Cali in the music world. Check out the whole cover here:
