“Good Place” star Jameela Jamil has a new body-positive Instagram account that will inspire you to ditch your scale
Earlier this week, The Good Place star Jameela Jamil shared an Instagram Story that said: “I weigh,” but instead of writing some numbers on a scale, she listed her “weight” as her accomplishments, her healthy relationships, and the sum of her life experiences. This seemingly innocuous Instagram post blew up, with many women sending her their own “I Weigh” images. Because of the surprise success of it, Jamil launched a new body-positive Instagram account @i_weigh that features all the lovely user-generated “I weigh” posts from men and women all over the world.
Jamil’s own “weight” is measured by her “great friends,” her “honest living,” her ability to be “financially independent,” and her platform to “speak out for women’s rights.”
"This post of mine started a mad wave of amazing women posting their own back to me in our revolution against shame and self hatred over our looks, perpetuated by the media...I’m fucking tired of seeing women just ignore what’s amazing about them and their lives and their achievements, just because they don’t have a bloody thigh gap," Jamil wrote in an Instagram caption after she launched the new handle. "Please follow the account so we can start this revolution properly and make the fashion and media industry see how many of us are DONE with this shit."
Here, the ‘gram that started it all:
We’ve been scrolling through the posts sent in by Jamil’s followers, and we love everything about this #IWeight movement.
