10-year-old “Room” star Jacob Tremblay became the cutest mini ’80s character for Halloween
Jacob Tremblay, known for his role as Jack in the gut-wrenching 2015 film Room appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to promote his latest film, Shut In. The best part: Tremblay arrived to the Kimmel set as Maverick from the 1986 Tom Cruise film Top Gun and let’s just say, Tremblay looks and plays the part perfectly.
“Have you ever even seen Top Gun?” Kimmel, dressed as an American Eagle, asked his 10-year-old guest. “Yes I did,” Tremblay responded. “My parents love ’80s movies ’cause they’re old,” he explained.
Kudos to Tremblay’s “old” parents for introducing him to Top Gun, because this little Maverick bears an uncanny resemblance to Cruise’s “big Maverick.”
And as if one ’80s character costume isn’t cute enough, Tremblay also dressed up as Back to the Future’s Marty McFly for a Halloween dance at school. He added in his Instagram caption, “(Only the adults knew who I was…)”

“You love the ’80s I guess, huh?” Kimmel asked Tremblay after showing his Marty McFly getup to the audience. “Yeah I do because my parents show me lots of stuff from the ’80s. I told you that earlier,” Tremblay scolded. Kimmel responded by stating that he’s “close to death” because he’s so old and forgets things sometimes.

Perhaps growing up with Tom Cruise and Michael J. Fox on his television screen helped Tremblay to become the freaking amazing child actor he is today. If you haven’t checked out the trailer for Shut In yet, it’s a must see. But while we’re waiting for Shut In to arrive in theaters, let’s take a page out of the Tremblay family’s book and re-watch Top Gun and Back to the Future to keep us entertained in the meantime.
