Jaclyn Hill spoke out for the first time after fans complained about “bumpy” and “hairy” lipstick, and she has a plan

When beauty vlogger Jaclyn Hill announced the launch of her own makeup line, Jaclyn Cosmetics, fans couldn’t wait to try it out for themselves. But when Hill’s products hit shelves, things did not go as expected, with many customers complaining of defective lipsticks. Now, Hill has responded to the criticisms over her lipsticks and is reassuring her followers that they are “not unsafe.”

Jaclyn Cosmetics contains nude lipsticks in more than 20 shades, all of which are currently sold out. As People.com notes, after the line launched June 1st, several of Hill’s fans have shared pictures of Jaclyn Cosmetics lipsticks with strange lumps, lint, hair, and even small beads stuck inside them. The outrage from several consumers ultimately prompted Hill to release an in-depth video about her products, in which she broke down what was going on.

"The first thing I want to address before anything else is the accusations that my lipsticks are expired, moldy, or hazardous in any way, shape, or form," Hill said in the video. "My lipsticks are not moldy, they are not hazardous, they are not contaminated, they are not unsafe for you in any way, shape, or form. Every single ingredient in my lipsticks is new and it is FDA-approved."

Hill said that “alarming” black dots in the lipsticks were oxygen bubbles that formed during the cooling process. Problems with grittiness, she explained, meant that lipstick ingredients weren’t melted down enough. She also explained the “hairy” look of some of her makeup. Apparently, cotton gloves manufacturers wore during the creation process and a cotton cloth that was used to clean vats caused the stray fibers users were seeing.

"Those two things combined, that is what you are experiencing are little, white cotton fibers coming off of their gloves, and it is so beyond unacceptable, and I am so sorry this happened to you guys," she said.

The YouTuber concluded her video by promising her customers that they would receive full refunds and replacement products if they had any problems. She also promised that the manufacturing process would be changed. She then thanked consumers who had informed her about the issues with her lipsticks.

"I am very grateful for your honesty," she said. "I am very grateful for you coming forward and telling me what's going on because I want to fix this, and I would never know if you guys didn't keep me informed."

It’s unfortunate that Jacyln Cosmetics has gotten off to such a rough start, but we’re grateful that Hill is keeping her fans updated. Hopefully, the next batch of her lipsticks will be flawless.
