2017 is already looking great as Kween J.K. Rowling is writing TWO new books

In what might be the best news EVER, J.K. Rowling has revealed that she’s writing TWO new books and we’re so darn excited that we can’t quite handle it.

This year has been quite eventful for the Queen of Harry Potter. Rowling not only worked on the first stage production of a Potter story, the eighth instalment in the boy wizard’s adventures The Cursed Child (which is said to be coming to Broadway in 2018. Woop!), but the British writer also penned the screenplay for the first of five planned prequel films, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

However, when you have as a creative mind as J.K. Rowling, you’re bound to be working on something new, right?

Well, yes in fact, Rowling IS working on something new. Two new books, to be precise.

The author and goddess took to Twitter (her fave medium of communication it seems) to answer some fan questions, and where she revealed that she had more than just the upcoming Fantastic Beasts movies in the works.

Rowling hasn’t released a proper novel since 2015’s The Career of Evil, the third book in the Cormoran Strike series which she writes under the alias Robert Galbraith.

While she confirmed that there WOULDN’T be any books featuring Newt Scamander, the protagonist of Fantastic Beasts, Rowling did reveal that she was currently working on two novels.

When quizzed by one fan whether it was a Robert Galbraith novel or one under her own name, the author confirmed that she was currently writing one of each!

J.K. Rowling has written only one novel outside of the Potter series in her own name, 2012’s The Casual Vacancy. However, in 2015 the prolific storyteller told the BBC Radio 2 Book Club that she definitely planned to work on new novels.

“I will definitely write more novels as J. K. Rowling, she said in the interview. “Novels in the plural, I have so many ideas in my head. I have an idea for a children’s book. Actually I have written part of a children’s book that I really love so I’m definitely going to finish that.

Whether these books will be set in the same universe as Harry Potter or whether they’ll follow the more realistic setting of The Casual Vacancy is yet to be seen, but any new book by J.K. Rowling is a treat for us, so we can’t bloomin’ wait!
