Oh, so this dog is the reason J.K. Rowling’s not writing right now
J.K. Rowling may be able to invent massive worlds filled with myth and magic, but it looks like her pets have a better idea of a proper work-life balance than she does. The writer, known for her extensive social media presence (oh yeah, as well as for writing the Harry Potter series) posted this adorable shot Friday on Twitter.
Exactly who that snoozing pup is might be somewhat of a mystery, however. Ms. Rowling is known to have at least two dogs, a Jack Russell terrier named Butch and a rescued greyhound named Sapphire. Since this adorable laptop-hogging fellow appears to be neither of those, it can only be assumed that he’s a fantastic beast come from the world of Harry Potter to visit her (that seems logical, right?)
Of course, the other question that leaps to mind when you see a photo of J.K. Rowling’s laptop is “what is she writing?” Unfortunately, Potter fans, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing a new novel about the further adventures of the Boy Who Lived (Repeatedly) any time soon. Instead, Rowling is likely finishing the third novel in her adult crime series, Silkworm.
Not to fret, however; the author has been consulting on the script for the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, set in the Harry Potter Universe. Even better, previews for her play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, are set to begin in London this June. The play focuses on the life of Albus Potter, Harry’s youngest son, and serves as an eighth story in Harry’s life as well.
So it’s good news all around for fans of J.K. Rowling’s writing that she continues to put out material at a steady pace…of course, that’s only if her mystery dog ever gives her back her spot in front of the computer.
