Ivanka Trump stood up to her father, saying Donald Trump’s comments were offensive, because duh
In case you’ve literally tuned out every form of media over the last few weeks, you probably know that things have been seriously going downhill for Donald Trump. Why? Because he made some comments about “grabbing” women “by the p*ssy” that really were the final straw for many people keeping up with this disaster of an election. Since then, things have been even messier than usual. Loads of people tried to say the sexual assault comments were really just “locker room talk” (ew, we know). And others said that Trump’s comments about grabbing women were just “bachelor party talk,” which is serious nonsense.
While much of Trump’s family is either staying quiet or, in Melania Trump’s case, supporting his comments, one has spoken out. And it’s Ivanka Trump.
"My father's comments were clearly inappropriate and offensive."
We seriously never thought we’d be cheering her on, but THANK GOODNESS.
"And I'm glad that he acknowledged this fact with an immediate apology to my family and the American people."
Is it everything we want her to say? Well, no. But it’s finally an acknowledgment that this is more than “boy talk” from Donald Trump, as Melania attempted. Trump’s comments about grabbing women are seriously messed up, and it has real repercussions on the already TERRIBLE state of sexism in this country.
