Item of the Day: T-Fal OptiGrill

I’m a sucker for a BBQ, but living in Brooklyn and it being mid-winter here, the chances of getting some food from the grill are close to zero. I’ve used my trusty little George Foreman grill for years, but I was on the market for something different when I changed my diet last year and started cooking more, and that’s when I came along the T-Fal OptiGrill.

The best thing about the OptiGrill is that it can cook meat from frozen – this is great for us lazy people who forget to take our meat out of the freezer before work in the morning and come home starving and unable to wait until it defrosts at 9pm. There’s a sensor on the grill which can tell you when what you’re grilling is done to perfection since it can automatically sense thickness and temperature. If you’re a freak about undercooking meat like I am, this is another awesome feature. Plus, the plates are removable (unlike my particular George Foreman model) and dishwasher safe. Of course, the only dishwasher my apartment has is me, but still.

I’m generally skeptical of “As Seen on TV” items, but I decided to take a chance on this one (though admittedly, I hadn’t seen it on TV, just in my local Bed, Bath & Beyond) and I’m SO glad I did. I use this thing at least 3-4 times a week and it makes my dinners – and my life in general – so much easier. Plus, I can actually sorta trick myself into feeling like I’m eating BBQ. Those little grill marks seriously make all the difference, at least in my head.

Get yours from the T-Fal website – you won’t be disappointed, I promise!
