Item of the Day: Mend Denim Tote

Confession: I’m a bit of a hussy when it comes to bags. I’m with a new bag every week and I’m not ashamed in the slightest. I did recently find one that might go the distance though. This gorgeous denim tote from Mend holds all the items I need, and it goes with pretty much every outfit I own. And it supports a fantastic mission.

Mendis a collection of bags created by victims of war – African mothers who were abducted by the Lord’s Revolution Army (LRA) in Uganda. Taken captive at a young age, many lacked a basic education and upon their escape from the LRA, were taken to rehabilitation centers. These women received three months of counseling and basic training in tailoring. With a skill for which an already flooded market existed, many were left without the means to support themselves and their children. Mend was conceived out of an idea to give these women an ethical workplace, education, counseling and the chance to rebuild their lives.

Mend: a line by Invisible Children to empower women affected by the LRA conflict.
