Item of the Day: Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve Co.

I’ve gone through my fair share of beauty products, lotions and potions – all the fancy smelling magic we choose or are gifted. Recently, I was having problems with how dry my hair was becoming. I’ve known for some time about the chemicals that are in our everyday shampoos and conditioners, our lotions, our makeup, so much of what we put on our skin, and thus into our bodies. It seems that routine and, perhaps, laziness trumped my concern about these chemicals. However, in the past few years, this has become a more relevant concern for me. Natural products are important to me and for me. So, in my search to fix my then straw-like hair, I came across a lovely little company by the name of Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve Co.

Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve Co. is a small, family run business out of Ohio. It’s quite literally a mom and pop shop. Better yet? It has amazing all natural and organic products. There are vegan products, as well. None of their items are tested on animals. It’s great for you and great for the environment. Even their packaging is environmentally friendly.

I ordered a round of shampoo bars and fell in love immediately. Not only did the shampoo bars change my hair, they lasted an incredibly long time. They were very, very cost efficient. And, the scents and ingredients? Oh my goodness.

All natural? Check. Organic? Check. Small business? Check. Amazing results? Check. Budget friendly? Check. What more could you ask for? Nothing!

As if this company couldn’t get any better, the virgin shea butter they use in some of their products (see their whipped moisturizers) is Fair Trade and produced by a woman owned company in Ghana!

Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve Co. carries everything from lotion to shampoo bars, body scrubs to oils, salves to candles (that double as moisturizers – what?!), lip balms to scrubs, soaps to bug sprays. I can’t speak more highly of who they are, what they do and the products they make. Listen, they even have products for your pets – lil’ Fifi and Fido.

You can find Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve Co. here. You can also follow them on Twitter right over here.
