Some Words About B.J. Novak’s ‘The Book With No Pictures’

I like buying books for my six-year-old sister, because she loves to read and there are only so many dinosaur figurines and Frozen dolls one little kid needs (don’t worry, it’s a lot). You can never have enough books, however, and you might as well start your collection young; so when B.J. Novak sent us a couple advance copies of his first children’s book, The Book With No Pictures, the HelloGiggles office was super stoked and I was super lucky and got to take one home.

While he might be best known for his work in front of the camera on The Office, Novak is also a talented writer and his creative storytelling and sense of humor translate surprisingly well to kid-lit. The Book With No Pictures is an adorable, unique children’s book that’s as fun for the reader as it is for the listener. I even made my mom read it to me to get the full experience (Thanks, Mom!), and it totally brought the giggles as much as when I read it to my baby sis. I won’t spoil it for you, but the book is very silly, and if you’re planning on reading it to the little one(s) in your life, get ready to get weird. There are tons of fun voices and noises to be made, and it’s just all around the cutest. If you need to show off to a kid and a new story to add to the repertoire, The Book With No Pictures is a perfect fit: it’s interactive and smart, as a good children’s book should be.

Need even more proof? Check out this ridiculously cute video of Novak reading his book to a room full of kids. (Hint: they totally approve.)

The Book With No Pictures is out today, September 30, and you can buy it here!
