Issa Rae’s witchy green eyeshadow at the Critics’ Choice Awards is a mood

We can always count on Issa Rae to provide major makeup inspo at awards show red carpets and her look at the Critics’ Choice Awards on January 13th did not disappoint. We’re particularly obsessed with the stunning green shade on her lids.

The actress, who was nominated in the Actress in a Comedy Series category for Insecure, paired her black satin gown with a bold, smoky green eye. Every single product that Rae, who is a CoverGirl spokesmodel, wore last night is from the brand’s Full Spectrum collection.

Issa Rae’s makeup artist Joanna Simkin broke down the look on her Instagram.

In a press release sent to HelloGiggles, Simkin said, “I was inspired by Issa’s beautiful black dressed designed by her stylist and felt pressure to make sure her makeup looked extra gorgeous tonight. Her dressed was designed with various textures and I wanted to incorporate some contrasting textures into her look. I started by smoking some matte black shadow to her inner and outer eye corners.” Simkin then packed on the sultry green shade, which comes in the Zodiac palette, in the center of Rae’s eyelids.

Simkin also used the new CoverGirl Exhibitionist Mascara and mixed a Full Spectrum Color Idol Satin Lipstick in the shade “Undone” with a liquid lipstick called “Royalty” to achieve that pretty nude. All in all: another gorgeous red carpet slay from Issa Rae.
