Is Queen Elizabeth sick? She missed another public appearance

Get well soon! Queen Elizabeth, who missed the Christmas service last also missed the New Year’s Day celebration due to illness. According to a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, the Queen of England is suffering from a “heavy cold”. She’s been sick for most of the holiday season, and it’s no surprise that it’s taking so long for the Queen to feel better. At 90 years old, she is still extremely active in the duties and responsibilities of being queen, so she probably could use some rest.

A royal spokesperson said that despite her absence at church, the monarch is “up” and “working” Sunday. The source added that the Queen is “taking red boxes,” a reference to the famous red boxes that contain government documents and other information and business pertaining to her role as head of state. So all is well.

While still very active, the Queen has relinquished some of her duties. In December, Buckingham Palace announced that she will step down as the head of several charities and bodies at the end of her 90th birthday year, giving these duties to other members of the royal family. “Her Majesty is currently Patron of more than 600 organizations and has enjoyed a close and active association with a great number of them throughout her reign,” a statement from Buckingham Palace said.

Prince Phillip, who was also too ill to attend the Christmas service, luckily was able to attended the New Year’s Day celebration. We’re glad to see that he’s feeling better. And we hope that the Queen feels better soon!
