Is Snapchat going to change back? People are seriously over the new update

Normally, Snapchat is an awesome way to destress after a long day, but lately the app has been headache-inducing. Earlier this month, Snapchat rolled out a new update separating your friends’ accounts from the accounts of celebrities, brands, and influencers. It seems like just about everyone who’s updated is seriously over it. So is Snapchat going to change back, given all the backlash this update has received? So far, it seems like these changes are here to stay.

Although Twitter is filled to the brim with people complaining about the update, it sounds like the app is holding their ground on this one. In fact, in a reply to a tweet from an angry user, Snapchat’s support page insisted that “an update as big as this one can take a little getting used to,” which seems to be their standard response to all the negativity they’re getting online.

Some people have found a workaround, if you’re really hating this layout. You can delete the app and re-download it. After turning off automatic updates and resetting your password, you should be able to use Snapchat in its prior form. However, Snapchat’s official stance on this trick? Don’t do it, because it could result in losing access to your account forever. As they tweeted last week:

But if you’re still mad, there’s hope… in the form of a massive petition. Over 790,000 people have signed the Change.org petition demanding the old app back, and that number is steadily rising. Does that mean there’s hope? Not necessarily, but if you’re not a fan of the update, that’s a solid way to take action.

Snapchat may not have announced any plans to revert the app back to the old setup, so it might just be time to get used to the changes — or delete the app altogether. Pick your poison: the new Snapchat update, or no Snapchat at all?
