Iron Man’s suit is missing, and the LAPD are investigating — for real
You’d think that super pricey items, like, say, Iron Man’s suit from the original Iron Man, would be under pretty heavy supervision. Turns out that’s not always the case. Iron Man’s suit went missing from storage, and the LAPD has gotten involved to figure out who took it. We seriously have so many questions.
The burglary was reported on May 8th at the 13200-block of Weidner Street in Los Angeles. The suit, worn by Robert Downey Jr. in 2008 in the first Iron Man movie, is priced at $325,000. So it’s a big deal.
As reported by The New York Post, police estimate that the theft took place anywhere between February and April 25th, which is a huge window to navigate. It also eliminates our initial theory that someone borrowed it for a Halloween costume and then forgot to pick it up from the dry cleaners (JK. But no, really).

Luckily, this doesn’t affect any current Marvel movies in production. Iron Man’s suit has changed and evolved throughout the last ten years, so the character is no longer seen in the version that went missing.
Still, this is a bona fide head-scratcher — especially since nothing else was reported stolen. Fans of the film franchise have some ideas of their own about where the iconic suit could be.

Wouldn't it be great if it was Nicholas Cage who stole the suit in order to pay for more dinosaur bones?

I imagine that some collector would pay quite a bit for an Iron Man outfit still faintly redolent with Robert Downey Jr.'s sweat.

While a missing Iron Man suit is intriguing (and ironically sounds like the plot of a potential Iron Man movie), we can’t forget that it’s still a crime. We hope that the suit is eventually found and returned. Because we don’t want that thing getting in the wrong hands…
