Twitter just discovered an iPhone texting hack that will low-key change your life
Unless you’re a bona fide tech expert, chances are there’s a ton of features on your iPhone that you don’t actually know about (we feel ya). And the most recent hack sweeping the Twittersphere involves a more convenient way to text…and we don’t know how we ever lived without it.
It all started with a tweet from food blogger Krissy Brierre-Davis. According to BuzzFeed News, the Atlanta-based blogger stumbled upon a screenshot on Facebook demonstrating how iPhone users can press and hold the space bar to move the cursor in a text. She then shared the discovery with her Twitter followers.
"How come you guys never told me about this iPhone trick? I feel duped," she tweeted on November 18th.
Brierre-Davis’s tweet resonated with a ton of users, and as of November 20th, her tip had received nearly 120,000 likes and more than 52,000 retweets. Some more tech-savvy users even pointed out that you can press any key to move the cursor, not just the space bar. But there were plenty of people who were just as stunned as Brierre-Davis.
Even Mike Isaac—a technology reporter for The New York Times—was blown away.
Given that pretty much any iPhone owner has encountered the problem of trying to move the cursor with your too-big fingers, this trick is an actual game-changer. However, even though many are just now discovering it, it’s not exactly new. CNBC reports that the feature was added in iOS 12. It also apparently works in other apps, too, like Gmail or Microsoft Word.
But for us, texting will never be the same again.
