LOL: ‘Insurgent’ stars fumble through popular slang terms in the cutest possible way

If you assumed that starring in one of the biggest YA franchises of the year means being up on the latest teen-speak, think again. While doing the rounds to promote the latest installment of the Divergent franchise, the stars of Insurgent were quizzed on their knowledge of teen slang. They were obviously floored and confused by a lot of the text-ready terms and watching them make their best guess about what the words meant was kind of the cutest.

The geniuses over at Clevver quizzed them by handing each of the stars (Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller and Octavia Spencer) an index card full of teen slang and asked them to use each of the words in a sentence to describe the movie. Their attempts are adorably off base a lot of the time, but they were willing and ready to learn and that’s what really counts, right? Check it out for yourself:

I have to say, I’m impressed by Ansel’s grasp of slang. Maybe he’s picked it up in his second gig (when he’s not acting, he moonlights as a DJ). Theo proved that American slang sound positively adorable in an English accent and Shai wowed us with her amazing take down of “Bye Felicia.” (She’s right — it is a pretty mean phrase and the Felicias of the world deserve better!)

I’ll be rewatching this video all week, every time I need a good laugh.
