Your Instagram feed just changed in a really huge way
There’s been rumors that a big change was in the works for Instagram, but it seems like it’s finally here — to which many people are saying NOPE.
What’s in store for Instagram with the new change? The update will use an algorithm to order your feed, giving preference to things it thinks you care about. As for your chronological feed? That’s now a thing of the past.
Despite the grumblings, Instagram just confirmed the change had arrived in a post on its official blog, saying that before, people were missing about 70 percent of their feeds on average. Instagram is hoping to change that with the new algorithm.
The post reads: “With this new ordering you won’t miss your favorite band’s video after the concert, even if it took place across the world in a different time zone. And no matter how many accounts you follow, you should see your best friend’s latest posts.”
While the comments section expressed some negative opinions — “DONT DO THIS. WE SHOULD DELETE OUR ACCOUNTS TO GET THESE GUYS TO LISTEN TO US. it’s a horrible HORRIBLE feature,” one person wrote — Instagram insists the change will be good.
“Over the past few months, we brought this new way of ordering posts to a portion of the community, and we found that people are liking photos more, commenting more, and generally engaging with the community in a more active way,” Instagram writes.
Like it or not, the new Instagram feed is here, so better start liking more posts from your fave meme accounts.
