Whoa: Instagram is becoming more like Facebook
Instagram has never been particularly desktop-friendly. It’s fun to scroll through the feed on your phone and check out your friends’ latest photos. On a desktop, however, Instagram has always been a lot clunkier and harder to use. Now, it looks like that’s about to change.
Tech Crunch reports that the Facebook-owned social media platform added a desktop notifications tab so that you can now see who has followed you and liked your pics when you’re on your computer instead of opening up the app on your phone.
It’s just one of many updates in recent years: Instagram released web user profiles in 2012, adding a scrollable feed in 2013, and introducing a search function last year, Tech Crunch said.
It looks as though we’ll have yet another thing to distract us when we’re trying to get work done. Will we soon be able to upload our best selfies on our computers, too? Times, they are a-changin’.
