Instagram of the Day: Lupita’s Paparazzi Prank

Lupita Nyong’o is brilliant. She’s classy. She’s silly and smart and talented. Honestly, could she get any cuter?

Of course she could.

I’m not saying that Lupita is perfect… but she’s basically perfect. And what’s even cooler is that she doesn’t take herself too seriously. She proved that to us when she took her brother as her Oscar date and they posed like two giddy teenagers for the most retweeted selfie of all time. Or maybe it was when she chatted with Ellen DeGeneres and joked about meeting Jennifer Lawrence backstage after the award ceremony.

“She tried to take my Oscar,” she exclaimed brightly. “And I said ‘hell no’! I won that thing!”

So when the paparazzi follows Lupita Nyong’o down to the beach, hoping to capture their first images of her in a bikini, what does she do?

…She turns the tables on them of course! When she noticed the paps looming, she took to her Instagram account and added a few photos of her own, complete with hilarious comic book captions.

Four for you, Lupita. You saw the opportunity and you took it. She could have just sat back and let them snap all the photos they wanted. She could have simply ignored them and complained about the invasion of privacy later, but no. Lupita decided to pull a fast one and make everyone laugh instead.

And that’s just one more reason why we love her.
