This young woman’s side-by-side Instagram reveals just how misleading booty photos can be
In the digital media age, it’s easy to mix perception with reality. Most young women spend hours scrolling through their Instagram feeds, trying to figure out how they can get an “ass like Beyoncé” or get just a fraction of the Kardashians’ curves. Little do they know, getting curves like the Kardashians is sometimes just showing off the right angles, as evidenced by one beauty blogger who’s calling attention to misleading Instagram photos.
Finnish YouTuber and wellness blogger, Sara Puhto, posted a photo to her Instagram demonstrating how booty photos aren’t like they seem. Check out her informative Instagram photo, below:
The Kardashians are often the source of “fitspiration” or fitness inspiration, which is women using photos and quotes by women of an ideal body type as inspiration to achieve diet and exercise success. The idea of “fitspiration” has been widely criticized as promoting unhealthy lifestyles, but it’s something many people take very seriously — especially on social media.
Puhto, in her Instagram photo, wants her followers to see that angles can lead to misleading pictures, essentially promoting the unattainable body. While Khloé Kardashian may post a killer pic, she may just be posting a photo from the best angle. For all we know, her one Insta pic may have been one of a hundred photos taken at slightly different angles.
Plus, the idea of unrealistic body image has only increased with the intense scrutiny of social media.
Most people on social media platforms, the Kardashians included, are constantly facing backlash for how they look in a photo. That’s why Puhto is simply reminding us how misleading the quest for the perfect body is.
In her inspiring caption, Puhto wrote,
“You can achieve anything with the right amount of determination, patience and effort! Don't think you can't because you're comparing a posed photo of a body to your everyday body. Use them as motivation but don't get too caught up on them. YOU are beautiful and can do anything you put your mind to.
We love how Puhto isn’t afraid to call out misleading photos. Intentionally misleading or not, it’s important to remember that there’s always a lot more to an Instagram post than meets the eye.
