Step aside, Mr. Incredible — the new trailer for Incredibles 2 puts Elastigirl in the spotlight

Honey, where are our super suits? Elastigirl is officially bringing Supers out of retirement in the trailer for The Incredibles 2 and we are so here for this. Disney and Pixar fans have been waiting for nearly a decade and a half for the sequel to the beloved 2004 superhero film, and this summer it is finally coming.

The sequel finds Helen Parr (once again voiced by Holly Hunter) returning to her secret identity Elastigirl persona as the face of a new campaign to bring Supers out of hiding. But while Helen’s out there saving the day, Bob Parr — aka Mr. Incredible (with returning voice Craig T. Nelson), is holding down the fort at home…which may prove to be the biggest challenge he’s ever faced.

Right off the bat, Bob already has his hands full parenting a teenage angst-ridden Violet, and then there’s Dash, who is in the “never properly washes his hands” stage of adolescence. But that’s nothing compared to the terrifying full-time job that is keeping track of Jack-Jack, who suddenly now has a wide variety of superpowers, like ones that cause him to burst into flames one second, and shoot lasers out of his eyes the next.

Naturally, the only person unfazed by Jack-Jack’s ability to likely accidentally kill everyone around him is Edna Mode.  As long as there are “no capes!” in sight, Enda Mode cannot be rattled.

But this wouldn’t be an Incredibles film without the whole family coming together to save the world, right? While it’s already been confirmed that we’ll be seeing more of The Underminer (John Ratzenberger), the evil villain who appeared at the end of the first one, the new trailer teased another Big Bad and it looks like it may do some serious damage.

You know what we need ASAP? The Incredibles 2.

Also returning for the sequel are Samuel L. Jackson (Lucius Best aka Frozone), writer and director Brad Bird (Edna Mode), and Sarah Vowell (Violet Parr), while Huck Milner replaces Spencer Fox as Dash Parr and Jonathan Banks steps in for the late Bud Luckey as Rick Dicker. Meanwhile Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, and Sophia Bush join the cast.

The Incredibles 2 is set to land in theaters on June 13th.
