This incredible woman hung 10,000 rainbow lights to protest her anti-LGBT neighbor, and we’re cheering so hard

Unfortunately, homophobia is still alive and well. So when this amazing woman got a new neighbor who was homophobic, she fought back in the best way possible: hanging 10,000 rainbow lights. It’s seriously so incredible! Plus, considering that hate crimes are on the rise post-election and that every single cabinet member appointed by Donald Trump opposes LGBT rights, taking a stance like this woman did can really make a difference, and have a necessary impact. We’re seriously cheering her on!

As Lexi Magnusson explained in a Reddit post,

“Our new neighbors are bigots. Since regular aggression leads to assault charges, I went with passive aggression. 10,000 lights later.

10,000 rainbow lights? It’s seriously just as amazing as it sounds.

“The election happened and the weight of all of those voters who feel exactly the same as she does really set in. It wasn’t just a passive aggressive middle finger at my neighbor, I wanted it something more to show my solidarity and belief than just the Human Rights Campaign stickers on our cars."

She continued, explaining,

“I’ve worked in the background to support LGBT causes and have been very vocal on Facebook – but in real life it’s still really hard for me. It’s probably the wimpy way to go, but it’s not nothing."

And she makes a great point. Showing your support for the LGBTQ+ community is more important than ever (though, honestly, was it ever not?), and allies who care and are willing and ready to act against injustice are *so* necessary.
