We bow down to this incredible senior class that just WON graduation
High school graduation is usually a pretty tame, if not downright boring affair, because everybody’s trying to get out of there. (Maybe this says more about my class than anything else.) But for Kahuku High School in Hawaii, the Class of 2015 took the graduation ceremony as an opportunity to show class solidarity, school spirit, and some killer dance moves.
In a nearly nine-minute-long routine, the entire class sang (customized lyrics!) and danced their way through an amazing medley of songs: Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again”; the Jackson 5’s “ABC”; Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”; a mash-up of Fifth Harmony’s “Worth It” and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s “Thrift Shop”; Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball”; Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’s “Uptown Funk”; Silento’s “Watch Me” (featuring spectacular shows of the whip and the nae nae); and a final rousing rendition of the school’s fight song “Kaipahua Kura,” a haka chant and dance which pays tribute to the influence of Māori culture in Hawaii.
The entire thing is amazing, so watch from start to finish and embrace the brilliance of the entire routine. (That “Wrecking Ball” moment — yes, nothing but yes.) The Kahuku kids are clearly destined for greatness, and we salute anything that gets an entire community to come together in celebration.
Can we just say: YAASSSSS.
