Chris Hemsworth’s ‘In The Heart of The Sea’ has a final trailer, and it’s intense
Films vying for award nominations are finally hitting theaters, and this winter has some incredible releases. We can officially add In The Heart of the Sea, which looks every bit as epic as you would expect the story that inspired Herman Melville’s Moby Dick to be.
The film is based on the story of the Essex, a ship that was attacked by a giant whale in 1820. Judging from the trailer, it seems safe to say that everything that could go wrong on their voyage did: storms, waves, giant whales, being washed up shore, a fire. I’m not a professional sailor, but none of that sounds like good news.
The Essex’s voyage was the inspiration for Melville’s epic novel, and we see the author in the film, played by Ben Whishaw. Chris Hemsworth plays Owen Chase, the first mate and obvious leader on the Essex, while his crew includes Cillian Murphy and Tom Holland.
The trailer starts with a question: “How does one come to know the sea’s dark secrets?”
Something tells us we’ll be getting the answer in In The Heart of the Sea when it hits theaters on December 11th.
