In honor of Debbie Reynolds, here are some of her greatest scenes from “Singin’ in the Rain”

In seriously tragic news, iconic actress Debbie Reynolds has died. Her passing comes only a day after her daughter Carrie Fisher passed away from a massive heart attack. And as much as Fisher was a force to be reckoned with, many young people today don’t realize what a trailblazer Reynolds was.

One of her most well known movies was the classic musical Singin’ in the Rain. The film was a big deal for Reynolds at the time since it was only her second movie. She was a teenager and living with her parents while filming, and she had only learned to dance three months prior to the shoot! Knowing all that makes it even more astonishing how incredible her performance was. It just goes to show, she really was one of the best in the business.

So in honor of Debbie Reynolds, here are some of her best musical numbers from Singin’ in the Rain for us to watch on repeat all day long.

” Good Morning!”

This is seriously probably one of Debbie’s best performances in the movie. Her combo of pure talent, charm, and enthusiasm, along with the fact she’s totally schooling her male costars (who happen to be none other than Gene Kelley and Donald O’Connor) makes this so incredibly awesome!

“Dream of You!”

Listener beware: This song will definitely get stuck in you head! And just look at Reynolds go!

“Would You?”

For those unfamiliar with the plot, Reynolds’ character has to dub over the singing voice of the lead actress in a movie — masking the fact that she’s the true talent of the story!

This is the title song of the movie, and most people are familiar with the version of the song sung by Gene Kelly out in the rain. But if you ask us, Reynolds’ version is heavenly.

“You Are My Lucky Star”

This scene comes right after the clip we just showed. It’s where Gene Kelly’s character reveals that Reynolds is the true star of the show. Le sigh!

So there you have it! Some of the best performances from Debbie Reynolds in Singin’ in the Rain! She was so beautiful, talented, and funny, and she will be greatly missed. We’re keeping her and her beautiful daughter Carrie Fisher in our hearts today.
