IMPORTANT MUSIC NEWS: Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande are collaborating!
Ariana Grande just announced that she will be collaborating with Miley Cyrus, as in all of our pop dreams are coming true. Better yet, these two amazing girls are combining their voices for an amazing cause: To raise money and awareness for homeless teens.
Ariana will be joining Miley in her Backyard Series, exclusively published on Facebook. Each video provides viewers with the option to donate to Miley’s new organization, the Happy Hippie Foundation. Rolling Stone reports that the Happy Hippie Foundation’s goal is to, “bring awareness towards issues affecting homeless youth and other vulnerable populations such as the LGBT youth community.”
Last year, Miley made a huge statement when she brought a homeless teen named Jesse to the MTV Video Music Awards. Jesse accepted the Video of the Year award for her, using his time onstage to speak out about how over a million and a half teenagers in the U.S. are homeless and need help. Miley was moved to tears and clearly inspired. Her effort to spotlight Jesse’s cause inspired people to donate over $200,000 for homeless teens in less than 24 hours.
Joan Jett already sang with Miley in her Backyard Series, and Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace and Melanie Safka are also expected to appear in future videos. Facebook has partnered with the Happy Hippie Foundation and made it possible to donate with the push of a button.
In the first instalment of Backyard Sessions, Miley dons smiley-face everything and sings a cover of Dido’s “No Freedom.” In the caption she wrote, “These lyrics relate so perfectly to Happy Hippie & our message to the world! FREEDOM & LOVE!” We love that Miley is using her star power to reach out to youth in need and can’t wait to see the rest of the series. You can watch the full video here. (Images via here and here.)
