Ikea just released instructions on how to create Jon Snow’s fur rug cape

While it’s summer right now, winter is here on Game of Thrones. (Spoilers for Season 7 follow.) With Jon Snow headed past the Wall to capture a White Walker with his gang of badasses, you might be feeling the chill regardless of the real weather outside. If so, you’re in luck because Ikea has instructions on how to create Jon’s cape. And it’s actually more of a legit recreation than you may have even realized.
Last week, the costume designer for the first five seasons of Game of Thrones, Michele Clapton, revealed that capes worn by the Night’s Watch are actually made from Ikea rugs. Of course, Clapton put a little more work in than just throwing rugs on Kit Harington and his fellow actors, but our minds were still blown.

Now, Ikea is apparently getting in on this major costume reveal by providing instructions on how to make your own Jon Snow fur cape — or as the Swedish furniture company calls it, “Vinter skuldervarmer.”
(The literal translation? “Winter shoulder warmer.”) This isn’t the first time Ikea has embraced the Game of Thrones fandom, but the instructions are still as epic as those fur cloaks the characters wear.

While the costumes on Game of Thrones look intricate, the Ikea instructions are quite simple. All you need to do is buy one of the company’s rugs — like the furry Tejn rug for only $14.99 — and cut a head hole in it.
Then voila! You have been magically transformed into the King in the North (errrr, well, kind of since we all know that we’ll never be as cool as Jon Snow).
So whether you want to be Jon Snow for Halloween or just want to look like that beautiful brooding (not!) bastard this winter, you know how to achieve his snow-friendly style, thanks to Ikea.
