This guy built an igloo to rent out on Airbnb, but he just got shut down

No one made the most of winter storm Jonas quite like a guy from Brooklyn named Patrick M. Horton. While pretty much everyone else was hunkering down indoors to wait out the storm, Patrick and his roommates grabbed their shovels and got to WERK. They made an igloo in their yard. An actual, dome-shaped North Pole-chic igloo, which would have been pretty rad in and of itself. But then Patrick and his crew took things to a whole other level by listing their igloo on Airbnb.

In a move that might be the most Brooklyn thing imaginable, Patrick dubbed his creation “Boutique Winter Igloo for 2” and listed it for $200 per night, describing it as “built completely by hand all natural.” Then he added, “Come experience this chic dome-style bungalow with Bae,” which actually made us consider it (almost). But it was when he created the hashtag #IglooAndChill that we were completely sold.

I’m not going to lie. I might be a little in love with Patrick. (Insert snowflake emoji.) Unfortunately, Airbnb isn’t as impressed. They shut down the igloo within six hours for failure to meet the site’s occupancy standards.

According to the New York Post, the company wrote Patrick an email that said, “We are happy to see that you guys are staying busy and having fun during Blizpocalypse. Unfortunately, your igloo, while very well constructed, has failed to meet our occupancy standards and has been removed from search results.” But they were nice enough to include a $50 coupon for an Airbnb listing, which they hope Patrick will use to “pick a place with running water, electricity, and a roof that doesn’t melt.”

Well played, Airbnb.
