Idris Elba wants you to be his Valentine, and WHERE DO WE SIGN UP!?

In case you were wondering, Idris Elba is pretty free this Valentine’s Day. How do we know this fact? Well, because Idris Elba wants YOU to be his Valentine‘s Day date.

We usually have mixed feelings about Valentine’s Day. Sometimes we absolutely LOVE it and the fact that it represents celebrating love. Other times, however, we think it might actually be the worst. But, there is certainly one way we could be turned onto Valentine’s Day for life and that’s if we were Idris Elba’s date.

Well now it’s a real possibility, as Idris Elba is on the lookout for a (belated) Valentine’s date and, for a charitable donation, it could be you (or us…please let it be us).

Launching a campaign via a Facebook video, Idris put his request out to the general public, and the date sounds AMAZING. All you have to do is donate a minimum of $10 via Omaze, a website that links donors with experiences, for your chance to have an evening with Idris.

"We'll get things started off with cocktails...or perhaps champagne," he says in the video. "Once we're feeling comfortable, we can order whatever your heart desires. Maybe some truffles, perhaps some steak. Pepper soup and fufu. That's an African dish, and you pound the yams. And you know what? I'll let you pound my yams."

Of course, the whole point of the date is to raise money for charity. As Idris says in the video, the money being raised is in aid of W.E. Can Lead, a charity that “envisions a world where EVERY girl receives a quality education, her inherent potential is fully realized & she is able to influence her world.”

Donations will support W.E. Can Lead’s leadership and education initiatives in Africa that aim to provide mentoring support for young girls and women across the continent, a pretty amazing thing if we ever heard of one.

For a minimum donation of $10, you get 100 entries into the competition to have a date with Idris, which includes flights to wherever you’re headed and accommodation.
