Idris Elba (wisely) said the #MeToo movement is only difficult for men “who have something to hide”
Over the past year, the #MeToo movement has enabled countless women to open up about the sexual harassment and assault they’ve experienced both in and out of the workplace. And yet its detractors continue to call it a “witch hunt” and claim that it unfairly targets men. Actor Idris Elba, however, is not here for people disparaging the movement, and he recently explained why men shouldn’t fear it. In a December 15th interview with The Sunday Times, Elba was asked if he found it challenging to be a man in Hollywood post-#MeToo. The Luther star dismissed the idea with the perfect response.
"It’s only difficult if you’re a man with something to hide," Elba said.
And Twitter users applauded Elba for his blunt—and highly rational—comment. false

Idea: An all Idris Elba reboot of famous men.

Me: Idris Elba is too handsome to be real and there's no way I could possibly find him even more attractive than I already do.

Elba has been a vocal supporter of the movement since it began. In a December 2017 interview with the website Den of Geek about his movie Molly’s Game, the actor noted that it was powerful to see the film come out at a time when “we’re seeing women stand up and have a liberation movement.”
The #MeToo movement isn’t just for women—it requires the respect and support of men if we ever hope to achieve concrete social change. Thank you, Mr. Elba. We just hope other men are listening.
