Turns out that this iconic “Gossip Girl” couple was never supposed to happen

You know that unforgettable Gossip Girl couple that we so loved?
Yep, we’re talking about Chuck and Blair — played by Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester, of course.
Well, the show’s co-creator/writer, Josh Schwartz, just revealed the truth to Vulture: Chuck and Blair were never supposed to be together.
Whaaaaaaaaaaat?!
“None of that was expected, he said. “Chuck came into the show as the villain. But it’s one of those great, fun things about making a television series — it’s an evolving, living, breathing thing, and things can easily change on a whim.
So what happened?!
In a word — chemistry.
Yep.
“You get an actor like Ed Westwick and see the chemistry he had with Leighton Meester, and their scenes just crackled, Schwartz said. “They came into the show as very different kinds of roles, but the chemistry between them took over.
We’ll say.
We’re still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that Chuck and Blair almost weren’t a couple. Can you imagine?!
We’re so glad they became one.
Of course, Chuck and Blair weren’t always the happiest pair, amirite?
But we still feel like this that they existed at all. (Thank you, Gossip Girl writing staff.)
Brb, going to go rewatch all the seasons of the show…
