Hulk will smash his way into ‘Thor: Ragnarok’

Last time we saw the Hulk, he was flying away in an Avenger’s Quinjet jet alone, and to parts unknown. He disconnected his communication equipment, and that was it. But, rest easy, because that’s not the last time we’re going to see him. Mark Ruffalo has now been officially confirmed to return as Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok, bringing him back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe once again.

While this is incredibly exciting for anyone who’s a big fan of Bruce Banner and his science, Thor: Ragnarok is still two years away. It’ll open on November 3, 2017.

In the meantime, we’ve got some other Marvel movies that the Hulk won’t be appearing in to hold us over. It was assumed that Banner would stop by Captain America: Civil War because literally every other Marvel hero is in that movie. Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr. even told Ruffalo that Hulk is in Civil War, because Iron Man makes the important executive decisions. Ruffalo went so far as to comment to HitFlix that, “At this point, I’m told that I’m in it by Robert, which I’ll take as biblical, but I just haven’t heard or seen from production yet.”

But, it’s not happening. Civil War will be completely Hulk-less. Why? There’s a reason for that, of course. Marvel has some BIG plans for the Hulk (pun intended) and that means keeping him out of the spotlight for a little bit longer. For right now, he’s “still missing, and it’s unknown where he is,” Ruffalo told the Italian website, BadTaste.it.

“[Marvel] evidently believed that the reveal of what happened to the Hulk was too big, and Marvel wants to save that information for later…They want to keep the revelation of what happened to him a secret, because it’s something really big.”

So Thor: Ragnarok it is. All our Hulk questions will be answered. It sounds like Thor: Ragnarok is going to be pretty big itself. Along with the return of Hulk, we’ll of course get Thor back once again and — this is the best, cry some happy tears — LOKI. Whether he’ll be the bad guy or not, and if he and the Hulk will cross paths again, who knows? But hopefully this time, Loki has learned from his past Hulk mistakes. Or, maybe not.
