Wait, so the Hulk (aka Mark Ruffalo) might be in the new “Captain America” after all
Captain America: Civil War already has way too many Avengers in it, but that’s not a bad thing. They just now might need to make room for one more big guy who could possibly join in on the fun at the very last second.
Mark Ruffalo’s role as Bruce Banner (and when he gets angry, the Hulk) has been talked about a lot for Civil War, mainly because he’s not in the movie. Or, he was in the movie, and Robert Downey Jr. actually told Ruffalo that he was in the movie, and scenes were written involving the Hulk for the movie, but in the end, the role was cut. Marvel has stated that the next time we’ll see Banner is during Thor: Ragnarok, when he teams up with Thor to save the day.
However, now supposedly, he’ll be stopping by Civil War quickly, too.
In a new interview with BB1, Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson/Falcon, let it slip that along with RDJ, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johannson, and everyone else returning for this Marvel outing, Ruffalo will be in attendance, too.
Mackie doesn’t elaborate on his comment whatsoever, and he could simply be thinking about all his Marvel friends, both in the movie and not. Or, Ruffalo could really be showing up for a surprise appearance, that isn’t so much a surprise anymore.
It’s also worth wondering if we’ll actually see the Hulk, or simply Banner. Last we saw both of them, Hulk was flying away, alone, in one of the Avengers’ Quinjets. He needed some time to contemplate life and smashing stuff, and if he’s not going to take a side in the Team Cap/Team Iron Man battle, he might just be phoning in his cameo, literally, from wherever he is in the world right now.
We’ll find out for real whether Civil War includes the big green guy or not on May 6. Cross your fingers that it’s a YES.
