Hugh Jackman, aka Wolverine, just told us why we all have to wear sunscreen

Yesterday, Hugh Jackman aka our beloved Wolverine, took to Instagram to do a public service announcement about wearing sunscreen.

This was an EXTREMELY personal PSA for Jackman, who has just been treated for the fourth time for skin cancer, a recurring health concern for the actor.

To raise awareness, Jackman posted a selfie with his nose bandaged up, post-procedure:

And the following message:

“An example of what happens when you don’t wear sunscreen. Basal Cell. The mildest form of cancer but serious, nonetheless. PLEASE USE SUNSCREEN and get regular check-ups.”

Of course, this post made us SUPER worried for Jackman, but his rep assured PEOPLE that the prognosis is good:

“He had a basal cell removed [Monday] morning. The margins are clear and he’s fine.”

This isn’t the first time Jackman has taken to social media to spread the word about the dangers of skin cancer and the importance of sunscreen. Almost two years ago, during a previous procedure, Jackman posted an eerily similar Instagram:

With an eerily similar message:

“Another Basel Cell Carsinoma. All out now. Thanks Dr. Albom and Dr. Arian. PLEASE! PLEASE! WEAR SUNSCREEN!”

We’re of course relieved that Jackman’s margins are clear once again, and we’re also so grateful to him for using his health concerns as a teachable moment to show us all just how important it is to wear sunscreen.
