This is how gentleman Zayn Malik asked Gigi Hadid out for a first date
Zayn Malik’s life changed in a big way during the year following his split from boyband One Direction. Malik released his first solo album earlier this year and is currently dating one of the biggest supermodels in the world, Gigi Hadid. For the last year, Malik and Hadid have been young Hollywood’s (and the world’s) favorite couple.
Last week Malik also dropped a surprise single, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” with Taylor Swift for the upcoming film Fifty Shades Darker. While promoting the single, the singer stopped by Sirius XM’s Morning Mash Up Show and revealed how he and Hadid began dating.
We’d assume, after listening to his album Mind of Mine, that it wouldn’t take much for Malik to get a date, but apparently, he had to do the heavy lifting to get Hadid to go out with him. Surprisingly, it was relatively old-fashioned.
"I just asked her," Malik said. "It was pretty straight up. I just asked her if she wanted to go on a date. I was in New York."

When pressed for more details about how specifically Malik roped Hadid into going out with him, he replied,

While it may seem like a boring story for a celebrity couple, it just shows that celebs are just like us, even down to the boring romantic origin stories. Malik also recently revealed that Hadid helped him score his duet with Swift. He said,
“The interesting thing was, [Swift] is friends with Gi, so she already reached out after hearing it because Jack [Antonoff] had just played her the song anyway and she went in the studio the next day to record it. She mentioned to me that she liked the song and I already kind of knew in the back of my head that she liked it. So I asked her if she wanted to be on it and she was cool with it.
