How to watch The Act—the creepy new miniseries based on Mommy Dead and Dearest

Ever since the 2017 premiere of the HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest, we’ve been fascinated with the story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her mother, Dee Dee. In case you missed it, it’s the real-life story of a woman who made the world believe her daughter was deathly ill for years so that she could garner sympathy and take advantage of assistance programs…until her daughter (who was forced to shave her head and only go outside in a wheelchair, which she didn’t actually need) snapped and killed her with the help of a secret boyfriend. Now, Hulu is gearing up to release an anthology series called The Act based on the events.
Here’s what you need to know and how you can watch:
According to a press release from Hulu, the first two episodes of the series will be available to stream on March 20th. The third episode will be available on March 27th, and the two subsequent chapters of the story will follow on April 3rd and April 10th. If you’re a Hulu subscriber—at least in the U.S.—you’ll be able to catch the episodes as soon as they premiere, or you can hold off until the season finale drops if you’d rather binge it all at once. If you don’t already have Hulu, now might be the perfect time to invest in it thanks to a new bundle deal between Spotify and the TV streaming service (Spotify Premium members can now get the ad-supported version of Hulu for free).

The Act stars Patricia Arquette as Dee Dee and Joey King as Gypsy Rose. The cast also includes Chloë Sevigny, AnnaSophia Robb, and Calum Worthy. While The Act Season 1 follows the story of the Blanchards, the Hulu press release notes that the series is intended to tell a different true crime saga each season.
It it March 20th yet?
